Roman Blaško, Secretary-General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, praised the July meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Slovakian President Peter Pellegrini. He described it as an exceptionally significant event that confirms the development of friendly relations between the Slovak Republic and the People's Republic of China.
"This is the first visit in twenty-three years. It is a very rare, important, and significant event," Blaško said. He also expressed his satisfaction that Slovakia, according to him, is developing cooperation with China in a number of strategic areas, such as modern technologies, trade, and industrial production.
In his statement, he recalled that the Chinese president emphasized the importance of mutual respect between states and the principle of one China during the talks. According to Blaško, respect for sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries is one of the fundamental pillars of Chinese foreign policy.
The Secretary-General of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia also expressed his conviction that the Czech Republic should consistently respect the principle of one China, which it committed to in the past.
In conclusion, he wished both countries further development of their mutual relations. He emphasized that not only economic cooperation but also cultural exchanges, cooperation in education, medicine, and other areas are important.
"If we want to maintain harmony and peace in the world, then dialogue, cooperation, and mutual respect are the right path," concluded Roman Blaško.
