ODS.CZ - On March 9, 2026, Martin Kupka, the chairman of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), presented the ODS's shadow cabinet. This cabinet, including the shadow prime minister, consists of 18 members and serves as a full-fledged opposition to the current coalition government, operating under the motto "Ready to take responsibility."
"We believe that right-wing policies in the Czech Republic can offer the public better and more honest solutions than populists or extremists. We believe in the Czech Republic, we believe in talented and creative people, we believe in an educated society that values hard work and understands that we can achieve nothing in isolation," said Martin Kupka, chairman of the ODS and shadow prime minister. Martin Kupka.
The ODS shadow cabinet has outlined its key policy priorities. These include a tax reform that will reduce the tax burden on labor, as well as reforms in healthcare and education. The ODS also emphasizes the modernization of the energy sector and the development of transportation infrastructure. The shadow cabinet has also pledged to work towards ensuring the security of the Czech Republic, including fulfilling its commitments, and to focus on internal security.
Martin Kupka's team will not only focus on responsible opposition work but will also offer concrete proposals and actively challenge the nonsensical policies of the ruling government. The ODS shadow cabinet has therefore published a document called ""10 Against and 10 For." This document lists areas that the Martin Kupka team will defend against actions by the current government, and also outlines 10 areas that the ODS shadow cabinet is willing to support.
The ODS will comment on the decisions of the ruling government every Monday at 3:30 PM during a press conference in the Chamber of Deputies. The ODS shadow cabinet will also regularly visit different regions of the country. The first such visit will take place on March 31, 2026, in the South Bohemian Region. "In the regions, we will discuss current problems so that we can be one step ahead and confront the government with what needs to be done to improve conditions in the Czech Republic," added Martin Kupka.
