PRAGUE - AVE CZ, a well-known waste management company, has been officially accused of large-scale fee cuts for landfilling. According to the prosecutor, it caused damage amounting to astronomical 940 million crowns. The company is facing the charges and is prepared to defend its innocence in court.
The information about the filing of the indictment was published today by the Prague Chief State Prosecutor's Office. Its details were confirmed by the company itself. "AVE CZ respects the prosecutor's decision and is ready to defend its position in the subsequent court proceedings," AVE CZ spokesman Milan Tománek told ČTK.
The indictment, drafted by supervising prosecutor Zdeněk Matula, alleges systematic circumvention of statutory fees. These are intended for municipalities and are used, among other things, to cover the costs associated with landfill reclamation and environmental protection. If the company is proven guilty, this would be one of the biggest cases of its kind in the Czech Republic.
The case is now heading to court, where it will be investigated in detail. For AVE CZ, a major player in the waste market, this is a serious matter that could significantly affect its reputation. In addition, hundreds of millions of crowns are at stake, which the company would have to pay if it loses. All attention now turns to the court proceedings, which will reveal whether the company has indeed committed serious misconduct.
