CEEC Research, a leading construction and development analyst firm, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. In two decades it has developed from an academic project into a respected institution providing key market analysis and organising prestigious conferences.
"Over 33,000 people have attended our events in that time and we have a total of 35,000 companies in our database. We want to be a driving force in the discussion about the future of the Czech construction industry," said Michal Vacek, Director of CEEC Research. This year's first event will be the Development Leaders Meeting, which will take place on 15 April at the Czech National Bank. Everything was set in motion by the academic project of Jiří Vacek, who focused his dissertation at the University of Economics in Prague on collecting data and information on the development of the Czech construction industry. And this directly from companies. The idea of first-hand qualitative analysis soon turned into a real business concept that gradually spread. Today, it is an important and even indispensable tool for many construction and development companies.
"Together with my brother, we have gone from a start-up to a respected market partner. The beginning of the company was not easy. Building a trusted network of contacts among Czech and later Slovak construction companies required systematic work and determination. The key moment was the establishment of cooperation with the consulting company KPMG, which became the first strategic partner and thus supported the growth of the project," explained Michal Vacek, who has been the director of CEEC Research since 2020.
The numbers that shape the market
At the heart of CEEC Research's success is its unique way of collecting data. Instead of just quantitative research, the company emphasizes face-to-face meetings with CEOs and business leaders, which ensures high accuracy and relevance of the analysis. This is also proven by their consistency with real data from the Czech Statistical Office, where CEEC Research's predictions about the condition of the Czech construction industry deviate only minimally. The company regularly publishes the Quarterly Analysis of the Czech Construction Industry and other sectoral studies focused on development and design. In addition, it organises expert conferences to provide key information and connect the professional community.

"The first Leaders' Meeting was held in a small meeting room in the KPMG building on Pobřežní Street in Prague. And it looked very simple, with around 30 guests, a handful of journalists and a panel of discussants comprising several construction industry experts. The chamber event has since grown into the largest industry event in the Czech Republic, hosted annually in the Spanish Hall of Prague Castle and attended by hundreds of key figures from business and domestic politics," explained Michal Vacek.
CEEC Research will thus continue to help shape strategic decisions in the sector, connect companies or effectively bring them together in communication with individual ministers. "New this year are roundtables of construction industry leaders at the Ministry of Industry and Trade or the Ministry of Regional Development. But we have more ideas," said Vacek, a graduate engineer in civil engineering from the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Brno.
