David Bowie's latest work, an intimate musical he co-wrote with playwright Enda Walsh in which, in addition to older hits (Changes, Life On Mars) will also feature songs from the album Blackstarreleased shortly before the singer's death. A melancholic tale of loneliness, self-destruction and the need for love, it follows the more than forty-year-old film The man who fell to Earthin which Bowie played the role of the alien Newton.
The theme of the stranger among men remains, but the motifs of burnout, addiction and above all the great need to return to a pure life, world and soul are added. In addition to Newton, we get to know the confident Elly, whose meeting with the mysterious eccentric will change her life, her boring husband Zach, the black angel Valentino, the hero's old friend Michael or the "ideal couple" Ben and Maemi. And then there is The Girl - Hope, with whom it is possible to fly to the stars... The musical, which is already enjoying success on European stages, is being presented in its Czech premiere with Igor Orozovich or Ondrej Ruml in the lead role.
The Musical Lazarus is inspired by Walter Tevis' book The man who fell to Earth. Presented by arrangement with Robert Fox and Jones/Tintoretto Entertainment and New York Theatre Workshop.
The performance is subtitled in English. David Bowie's songs are in the original English with Czech subtitles.
