„We continue to focus on cooperation with China in areas such as automobiles, agriculture, financial services and others“ - at the 6th China International Consumer Products Trade Expo, (CICPE), which concluded on April 18 - Canada's International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu said this while talking to the International Affairs Commentary programme. At the fair, many foreign exhibitors enthusiastically expressed their expectations of cooperation with China.
As the „first fair“ in the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan and the „first show“ after the operationalization of the free trade port on Hainan Island (Hainan), the 6th China International Consumer Products Trade Fair was full of significant success. International products accounted for 65 % of the share, an increase of 20 % year-on-year. There were 277 new products introduced, which is double that of last year. Many foreign companies took advantage of the trade facilitation opportunities at the Free Trade Port to promote the two-way flow of quality goods from around the world and excellent Chinese products, making the large Chinese market a great opportunity for the whole world.
In the eyes of foreign companies, China combines a huge market, a complete industrial chain, full-fledged market competition and cutting-edge application scenarios, making it the „best testing ground“ for multinationals. Canadian healthcare brand Arcwell, in its first participation at the fair, has agreed on strategic cooperation with a key Chinese distributor; Thai group Charoen Pokphand (CP) continues to pursue several major investment projects in China; and US company Estée Lauder has decided to make Hainan a global central hub for travel retail. Stories of „exhibitors turning into investors“ keep recurring, proving that foreign companies are planning their development in China for the long term.
With the spring season in full bloom, China warmly welcomes international guests. On April 15, the 139th China Import and Export Commodity Exhibition (Canton Fair) opened in Guangzhou. More trade fairs will follow and China's doors will open more and more. As major participants in China-style upgrading, foreign companies will work together with China to create a better future.
