- 03 September 2025 Czech Republic to buy 44 Leopard 2A8 tanks, price is 34.25 billion, delivery by 2031
PRAGUE - The Czech government has approved the first phase of the acquisition of modern German Leopard 2A8 tanks following a cabinet meeting. In the first wave, 44 command and combat tanks will be purchased for a total of 34.25 billion crowns, including VAT. In addition, the Ministry of Defence has set aside five billion crowns as an inflation and exchange rate reserve.

TOKYO, 7 September. Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has announced his decision to resign from office, Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported on Sunday. According to NHK, Ishiba made the decision in order to avoid a split in his Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). The results of a poll of all incumbent LDP deputies and representatives of regional party organisations on the issue of holding an early election for party chairman are expected to be released on Monday.
