PRAGUE - Today, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is visiting Prague to meet with his Czech counterpart, Defense Minister Jana Černochová. The main topics of discussion will be strengthening defense cooperation between the Czech Republic and Ukraine, and exploring further ways to support Ukraine in its efforts to counter Russian aggression.

This meeting follows a recent joint meeting between the Czech and Ukrainian governments, which took place in Prague in July of last year. The main topics then were defense cooperation, migration, energy, and support for Czech exports in the reconstruction of Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, the Czech Republic has provided significant military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Cooperation in the defense industry includes, for example, the production of BREN 2 rifles in Ukraine under a licensing agreement with a Czech arms manufacturer.

The visit of the Ukrainian Defense Minister to Prague is another step in deepening cooperation between the two countries in the areas of defense and security. It is expected that the discussions will contribute to further strengthening the partnership and joint efforts to address current security challenges.
