Lei Jun, founder and CEO of Chinese tech giant Xiaomi, said on Wednesday that he is committed to integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technology into end products.
Lei made the remarks while speaking to the media in the parliamentary corridor before the opening of the third session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature.
"We are committed to following the path of scientific and technological innovation and high-quality development, promoting new high-quality production forces by integrating the latest AI technologies into various end products and enabling consumers to experience the wonderful life that technology brings," said Lei, who is also a member of the NPC.
Xiaomi, which was founded 15 years ago, has risen to become one of the top phone companies in the world and will sell 170 million units in 2024, according to Lei. Last year it ventured into car manufacturing and its SU7 outperforms some of the world's top racing cars with its performance at just a third of the price.
Ahead of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra's launch last week, Porsche publicly applauded it for breaking the Shanghai circuit record in a post on Chinese social network Weibo.
Lei was also among the representatives who attended a recent symposium on Chinese private enterprises.
