President Petr Pavel and his wife, Eva Pavlová, concluded their two-day visit to the Pardubice Region on Wednesday, May 22nd.
On Tuesday, the President began his visit at the Explosia company, followed by a meeting at the Regional Office, where he discussed issues with Governor Martin Netolický and regional officials. On Wednesday, he also visited the Central Emergency Department of the Pardubice Region Hospital, the Center for Flight Training, the State Material Reserves Administration, and the Hamzova Sanatorium in Košumberk. In the evening, the President engaged in a discussion with citizens in Vysoké Mýto.
"In the Pardubice Region, I am encountering a number of problems that are also present in other parts of our country. We don't just have three structurally vulnerable regions, or economically and socially vulnerable areas, but we also have a number of specific municipalities or associations of municipalities that fit this description, and yet no programs are available to them," the President stated after meeting with the regional leadership. According to the President, it is necessary to pay attention to measurable parameters of quality of life, which ultimately influence where people will want to live.
The presidential couple began Wednesday's program at the U Svatého Jána farm, where a discussion with farmers took place. The President also visited the Museum of Old Machines and Technologies in Žamberk, had lunch with mayors in Králíky, and visited a branch of the Czech Police. The President concluded his visit with a walk from Kramářova Chata to the Bouda artillery fort.
"Looking ahead, we will not be undertaking any further major regional visits in the coming weeks, given the upcoming elections. There will be one more brief visit to two regions that I visited before my inauguration. After that, we will focus on summarizing and analyzing all the topics that emerged during all the visits," the President stated at the end of his visit to the Pardubice Region.
