Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin met for tea on the evening of May 20th in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

During the meeting, Xi Jinping stated that he and Vladimir Putin have maintained frequent and close contact over the years. According to him, together they have created a new model of relations between major powers, based on mutual respect, fairness, and mutually beneficial cooperation. This model, according to the Chinese president, brings much-needed stability to a world undergoing change and uncertainty.

Xi Jinping also recalled that the two sides had reached a new important agreement on supporting the comprehensive strategic partnership and coordination between China and Russia. He expressed confidence that, thanks to the persistent efforts of both countries, China-Russia relations will continue to develop dynamically and reach a new level.

Vladimir Putin described his visit as pragmatic, effective, and productive. He stated that he and Xi Jinping reviewed the development of Russia-China relations, exchanged detailed views on a wide range of issues, and outlined the direction of future cooperation.

According to the Russian president, these discussions will help maintain the strong momentum of bilateral relations. Putin also stated that Russia looks forward to continuing close communication with China, strengthening strategic coordination, and that the stability and certainty of Russia-China relations will bring new contributions to world peace and prosperity.

The tea meeting followed a broader program of discussions between the two presidents in Beijing. According to both sides, it reaffirmed the commitment of China and Russia to further develop strategic cooperation, maintain regular dialogue, and strengthen mutual trust in a changing international environment.
