Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday congratulated András Baka on his assumption of the office of President of Hungary. In his congratulatory message, he recalled that Hungary was among the first countries to recognize the People's Republic of China. According to Xi Jinping, both countries are united by a long-standing tradition of friendship.

The Chinese president stated that since establishing diplomatic relations 77 years ago, China and Hungary have always adhered to the principles of mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit, and cooperation beneficial to both sides. He believes that this has led to significant achievements in various areas of cooperation.

Xi Jinping also emphasized that he attaches great importance to the development of Chinese-Hungarian relations. He expressed his willingness to cooperate with President Baka to further develop traditional friendship, deepen political trust, and strengthen practical cooperation in all areas.

According to Xi Jinping, the goal is to promote stable and long-term development of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Hungary for a new era. This partnership, he believes, will bring greater benefits to the people of both countries.

András Baka, the newly elected President of Hungary, addressed the nation in parliament in Budapest on August 11th. Xi Jinping subsequently sent him his congratulations on assuming the presidency on August 19th.
