The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee held an extraordinary consultative meeting in Zhongnanhai at the end of August with representatives of non-communist political parties and independent figures. The purpose of the meeting was to gather comments on the draft 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development, which will set the country's direction for the period 2026-2030.

Jednání předsedal Xi Jinping, Secretary General of the CPC, who stressed in his speech that wide consultation and democratic dialogue are a long-standing tradition of the Party in the drafting of key documents. Representatives of the Democratic Party, All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and independent public officials have praised the achievements of the 14. pětiletky and supported the strategy of the new plan.
