BEIJING - On the afternoon of December 16th, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with John Lee Ka-chiu, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, who had traveled to Beijing to present his work report. During the meeting, President Xi listened to a report from Mr. Lee on the current situation in Hong Kong and the work of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government.

Xi Jinping stated that in the past year, John Lee Ka-chiu, as Chief Executive, led the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government with courage and a proactive approach, firmly safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development interests. He successfully organized the eighth Legislative Council elections in Hong Kong, achieved stable economic growth, and Hong Kong has taken new steps from recovery to prosperity. The Central Government fully appreciates his work and the work of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government.
