The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Xi Jinping, has called on the younger generation to preserve and pass on revolutionary traditions. He made the remarks in a letter responding to students who serve as volunteer guides at memorial sites associated with the founding of the CPC in Shanghai and Zhejiang Province.

Xi Jinping, who is also the President of the People's Republic of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, encouraged the students to expand their knowledge and develop their abilities. He also extended International Children's Day greetings to all children in the country.

The young pioneers recently sent a letter to Xi Jinping, describing their experiences and insights gained while volunteering as guides at the Memorial Hall of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai and at the Nanhu Revolutionary Memorial Hall in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province.

In his reply, dated May 31, Xi Jinping said that he was pleased to learn that the students had developed a deep connection to the Party, the country, and socialism through learning about the history of the Party, revolutionary events, and heroic deeds.

"This year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. The work of the Party requires the continuous efforts of generation after generation," Xi Jinping emphasized.

He also urged the students to remain committed to the ideals of the Party, cultivate their character, and continue to pass on the historical legacy to future generations.

In 2021, an initiative was launched across China to encourage young pioneers to study the history of the Communist Party of China and to share these stories with visitors to revolutionary memorial sites and historical places.

The First National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held in Shanghai in July 1921. The founders of the Party subsequently moved the final part of the meeting to a boat on Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing City, where they adopted the Party's first program and resolutions. This boat later became known as the "Red Boat" and is now one of the important symbols of modern Chinese history.
