BERLIN - G7 countries and BRICS nations are increasingly inclined to view the United States as a threat, according to a survey by global strategic communications company Kekst CNC.
The survey shows that respondents in almost all countries surveyed are increasingly willing to identify the US as a threat. Only in Japan and China was there a slight decline in concern towards Washington. The most significant shifts in sentiment occurred in Canada, India and South Africa.
Concerns about Russia, on the other hand, have dropped significantly. In 2025, Russia ranked second among the risks cited by G7 respondents. In the latest ranking, it has dropped to eighth place out of 32. As before, Russia remains near the bottom of the BRICS country rankings. The United States, on the other hand, improved 16 places - from 29th to 13th.
The G7 also expressed less concern about climate change and more concern about threats such as cyber-attacks, financial crises and disinformation campaigns. Among residents of the BRICS countries (excluding Russia), the main concerns include climate change, extreme weather events and rising inequality.
The survey was conducted from 2 to 25 November for the organisers of the Munich Security Conference. Approximately 1,000 respondents were surveyed in each G7 and BRICS country (excluding Russia). The statistical error does not exceed 3.1 percentage points.
