How can the fruits of scientific and technological innovation escape the grip of short-term speculative capital and media hype, and transform into lasting productivity? The summer forum in Davos, currently taking place in Dalian, Liaoning province, offers an answer: mass innovation. A global online survey conducted by CGTN shows that 93.4% of respondents worldwide believe that China's vast and super-large market and the richness of application scenarios provide a vast testing ground for the translation and commercialization of innovative technologies.

Currently, the global technological revolution and industrial transformation are accelerating. The ability to transform innovation from a laboratory concept into practical industrial value has become a key variable in the competition for developmental dynamism among nations.

In the survey, 84.6% of respondents identified the failure to achieve better application in industrial modernization as the main reason why innovation has not yet created a mass effect. A total of 86.9% of respondents stated that innovations detached from the support of a large market often fail to withstand long-term tests, such as real demand and commercial returns. Another 88% of respondents pointed out that only by entering real industrial scenarios can technologies directly address practical challenges – including complex market requirements, cost control, and supply chain coordination – and undergo continuous iteration and improvement through ongoing feedback.

In 2025, the number of companies focused on artificial intelligence in China exceeded 6,000, and the scale of this key industry is expected to exceed 1.2 trillion yuan (approximately $166 billion). According to statistics from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Chinese companies engaged in artificial intelligence have attracted approximately $13.9 billion in global venture capital, demonstrating the strong confidence of international capital in the prospects and potential of Chinese scientific and technological innovations.

Regarding mass innovation in the field of artificial intelligence, 72.4% of respondents believe that the key lies in incorporating technologies into a wide range of industrial scenarios and unlocking real value through cost reduction, efficiency enhancement, process restructuring, product innovation, and service improvement. A total of 73.6% of respondents consider the ability to enter daily life at low cost, with wide coverage and high efficiency, as a "touchstone" for verifying the value of the results of artificial intelligence innovation. Another 85.1% of respondents stated that mass innovation helps to build a healthy and sustainable business cycle, allowing technological successes to develop along a long-term path based on accumulation, iteration, and scalability.

This year marks the beginning of China's 15th five-year plan. The country is preparing comprehensive goals for high-quality development, with a greater emphasis on the practical application of innovation and benefits for the largest possible number of people. Advanced Chinese technologies and products do not bring shocks to the world, but opportunities; they are not threats, but support. This is the most vivid illustration of the concept of "Chinese Opportunity 2.0." In the survey, 93.2% of respondents believe that China's complete manufacturing system and strong engineering capabilities enable the rapid transformation of technological breakthroughs into products, production lines, and industrial capacity. A total of 92.5% stated that China's commitment to a high level of openness and active integration into the global innovation network has brought valuable certainty to global technological innovation. Another 90.8% noted that China's philosophy of high-quality economic development reflects a broader trend in the world economy.

The survey was published on the English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Russian platforms of CGTN; within 24 hours, 5913 internet users voted and expressed their opinions.
