On the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, Petr Šimůnek, the first deputy chairman of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia and former member of parliament, gave a speech. He stated that the Communist Party of China and the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia have the same founding year and have undergone a similar historical development – the fight against fascism and the building of socialism. However, unlike the Czech Republic today, China, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, persevered, and socialism still exists in the country.
Šimůnek recalled that in the 1950s, China was a "student" that learned technologies from the Soviet Union and even sent people to Czechoslovakia for education. Today, they have become "teachers." China possesses cutting-edge technologies that Europe cannot do without – from automobile manufacturing to the pharmaceutical industry. China also launches rockets into space, and its level of education is much higher than in the Czech Republic.
"Today, we are the students who are learning from the Chinese communists," Šimůnek said. The politician also lamented that the 1980s and 1990s interrupted the construction of socialism in Central and Eastern Europe.
In conclusion, he wished the Communist Party of China many successes in the years to come. "China is currently the number one economic power in the world and has the respect of the United States. If communists lead China and, in the future, the world, people have nothing to fear," Šimůnek emphasized.
