At a meeting of the UN Security Council, China called for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza and strongly warned against the misuse of humanitarian aid as a weapon. According to Ambassador Fu Cong, the only way forward is a return to the principle of two states.

China's Permanent Representative to the UN, **Fu Cong**, described the situation in the Middle East as critical and unstable. He recalled that **immediately after the temporary ceasefire between Israel and Iran, Israel attacked southern Lebanon**, resulting in civilian casualties.

He also strongly emphasized the **ongoing suffering of Palestinians**, which, according to him, **undermines the very foundations of international justice**. Fu appealed to the international community to stop ignoring the tragedy and to **take immediate action**.

He particularly criticized the **use of humanitarian aid as a tool of war**. According to China, aid must be provided impartially, and not in a way that forces civilians to risk their lives for food and water.

Fu Cong reiterated **China's support for the two-state solution**, which, according to Beijing, remains **the only realistic path to lasting peace**. The call for a ceasefire was made symbolically **on June 30th – a day when the world was watching the UN and waiting to see if there was still any international will to bring about change**.
