The Chinese government's special envoy for the Middle East, Zhai Jun, met with the Brazilian president's foreign affairs adviser in Beijing. The main topic of their meeting was the current situation in Iran and wider developments in the Middle East.
Zhai Jun stressed that China is closely monitoring events in the region and urged all parties to take the opportunity to calm the situation. He said dialogue and negotiations, not further escalation, were the key to resolving the conflicts. China has long been an advocate of a balanced and fair approach and actively supports peaceful solutions.
At the same time, he expressed Beijing's willingness to work closely with Brazil to foster an international consensus that would lead to ceasefires, an end to conflicts and the search for political solutions. The aim is to return stability and peace to the region as soon as possible.
During the meeting, the two sides also touched on other sensitive issues in the region, including the Palestinian and Lebanese issues.
