At the first meeting of the „2+2“ strategic dialogue between the foreign and defence ministers of China and Cambodia on 23 April, the Chinese side presented six areas where the two countries have reached consensus. This was reported by Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Both sides agreed to firmly support each other, especially in protecting core interests. Cambodia reaffirmed its adherence to the one-China principle, its support for the reunification of the country and the global initiatives put forward by Xi Jinping.

Deepening practical cooperation is also an important point. China wants to support Cambodia's development through, among other things, the Industrial Corridor, the Fish and Rice Corridor and the Funan-Dezo water management system projects.

Another agreement concerns posílení spolupráce in the field of security. Both countries want to protect their political systems, defend themselves against external influences and prevent destabilising scenarios.

V oblasti vymáhání práva will focus on combating internet gambling and telephone fraud to better protect property and public safety.

Part of the agreement is to strengthen obranné spolupráce. China will support Cambodia in building its defence capabilities and protecting its sovereignty.

At the same time, both countries want more coordinate internationally, to oppose the politics of force, to support volný obchod and strengthen the role of the UN.
