Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), on Wednesday held separate meetings with Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, and Roman Sklyar, First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, who arrived in South China's Hainan Province for the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) 2026 Annual Conference. Zhao also met with BFA board members and senior advisors on Wednesday.
In his meeting with Gafarova, Zhao said China is ready to work with Azerbaijan to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, expand economic, trade and investment cooperation, strengthen connectivity, promote people-to-people exchanges and jointly strive to build a community with a shared future for humanity. The NPC is ready to strengthen exchanges with the Milli Majlis - the Azerbaijani Parliament - to provide legal guarantees for practical cooperation between the two countries.

Gafarova said Azerbaijan firmly upholds the one-China principle and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in various fields and deepen exchanges between the legislatures.
In his meeting with Sklyar, Zhao noted that China and Kazakhstan are friendly neighbors and enduring comprehensive strategic partners. China is ready to work with Kazakhstan to fulfill the consensus reached by the two heads of state, consolidate mutual political trust, deepen practical cooperation with a focus on the Belt and Road Initiative, enrich people-to-people exchanges, strengthen international coordination and cooperation, and push China-Kazakhstan relations to a higher level, broader areas and deeper dimensions. The NPC is willing to actively contribute as a legislature to deepen the friendship between China and Kazakhstan.

Sklyar said that Kazakhstan supports global initiatives proposed by China, Kazakh-Chinese relations are constantly deepening and Kazakhstan is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in various areas such as legislation, economy, trade and energy.
In a meeting with BFA board members and senior advisors, Zhao stressed that China is ready to work with all parties to jointly pursue global initiatives and promote the building of a community with a shared future for humanity. China will always support the development of the BFA and strive to maintain the openness and inclusiveness of the forum. He also expressed China's willingness to work with all countries to build a clean, beautiful and sustainable world.
BFA President Ban Ki-moon, who served as the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations from 2007 to 2016, and other representatives highly appreciated the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and the global initiatives proposed by China, and expressed their willingness to work tirelessly to develop the Forum.
