Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, on Monday invited the wives of foreign leaders attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) 2025 summit to tour along the Haihe River in Tianjin.
Peng welcomed the guests with warm handshakes and a group photo. On the wharf, children sang and waved foreign national flags to welcome the guests.
On board, the group heard an introduction about the history and development of Tianjin. Peng highlighted the city's rich history and its modern charm, noting that the Haihe River has witnessed Tianjin's growth and its interconnection of different cultures.
She expressed her hope that the meeting would leave everyone with pleasant and lasting memories.
Guests took in the scenery along the river, enjoyed tea and conversation, and listened to the sanxian performances. They also came out on deck to take photos. Many praised China's cultural heritage and highly appreciated the remarkable achievements of China's modernization, China Media Group said.
