On August 19th, China Media Group (CMG) held a cultural event called "Echoes of Peace" in Nairobi to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Chinese Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The event was attended by over 200 guests, including representatives from the Kenyan government, media, academia, and think tanks.
The President of CMG, Shen Haixiong, in a video address, emphasized that "history is the best textbook" and that only by remembering it can we firmly stand on the side of peace, justice, and future development.
The program included screenings of Chinese films and documentaries, including productions from CGTN Africa, which highlighted the importance of collective efforts for peace and the role of African soldiers during World War II.
Guests praised these works for providing a true perspective on history and for reminding us of the crucial, yet often overlooked, contribution of the African people in the fight against fascism.
