China's top legislator Zhao Leji expressed willingness to further strengthen practical cooperation with Kyrgyzstan during an official friendly visit from Wednesday to Thursday.
Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the All-China People's Congress (APC), met with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and held talks with Kyrgyz Parliament Speaker Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu during his visit to Bishkek.
When meeting with Zhaparov, Zhao first conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Xi Jinping.
Zhao described the leap in bilateral relations as the best in history and said China is willing to jointly follow the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, develop traditional friendship, strengthen strategic mutual trust and firmly support each other on issues concerning the core interests of the two sides.
He called on the two countries to expand trade and investment, to advance the construction of a high-quality China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, and to cooperate in areas such as cross-border road construction, port upgrades, digital trade and green energy.
Zhao said the two sides should promote people-to-people exchanges, jointly ensure the implementation of people's livelihood projects and continuously enrich the content of the China-Kyrgyzstan comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era.
According to Zhao, China is ready to work with Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian countries to uphold the China-Central Asia spirit, use the years of high-quality development of China-Central Asia cooperation as an opportunity to introduce more concrete measures and projects, and promote the building of a closer community with a shared future.
Zhao also called for joint efforts to deepen law enforcement and security cooperation, resolutely fight the "three forces of evil" - terrorism, extremism and separatism - and jointly maintain security and stability in the region.
Zhaparov asked Zhao to convey his warm greetings to President Xi Jinping.
He stated that Kyrgyzstan firmly supports China's positions on issues concerning its core interests and fundamental affairs, including Taiwan, Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Xizang, supports the three major global initiatives proposed by President Xi, and actively participates in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
He described the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway not only as an important transport corridor but also as a "path of friendship" and expressed willingness to further strengthen cooperation in areas such as investment, finance, culture, legislative institutions and multilateral affairs.
In his meeting with Turgunbek, Uulu Zhao said the All-China People's Congress (APC) is ready to fully implement the important agreements reached by the two heads of state with the Kyrgyz parliament, strengthen exchanges between the legislatures at all levels and deepen mutual understanding and friendship.
Zhao called for the use of the functional role of parliament in providing legal guarantees for practical cooperation between the two countries and for improved coordination and cooperation within multilateral parliamentary mechanisms to protect the common interests of developing countries.
Turgunbek Uulu said that the Kyrgyz Parliament is willing to closely communicate and cooperate with the Chinese NPC, implement the consensus reached by the heads of state, play an active role as a legislative body in promoting high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, facilitate bilateral cooperation in economic, trade, local, cultural, scientific and technological and educational fields, and improve the investment and business environment.
