Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with King Philip VI of Spain and both sides pledged to deepen cooperation and promote multilateralism and free trade.
Han said China appreciates the Spanish royal family's long-standing support for the development of Sino-Spanish relations.
China is willing to further strengthen cooperation with Spain in areas such as new energy, agricultural and food products, electric vehicles and the digital economy, and step up people-to-people exchanges in the cultural and educational sectors, Han said.
King Philip VI asked Han to convey his greetings to the Chinese president.
Recalling his pleasant visit to China, the King said that the two countries have conducted frequent high-level exchanges since the beginning of this year, with steadily deepening political mutual trust and fruitful results of practical cooperation, and that bilateral relations have shown positive development momentum.
Spain supports multilateralism and free trade, is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China in multilateral institutions, jointly protect the international multilateral trade order and rules, and promote sustainable global development, he said.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues including relations with major countries, the Ukraine crisis and the Palestinian issue.
