EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kallas announces a series of sanctions against Israel, including the partial suspension of the trade provisions of the EU-Israel Association Agreement. Kallas said the EU would not suspend trade with Israel.
The decision, which was approved that day at a meeting of the European Commission, still requires approval by EU member states and will enter into force 30 days after approval. The planned measures include tariffs on approximately EUR 5.8 billion worth of Israeli imports and sanctions against two far-right Israeli ministers: National Security Minister Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Smotrich.
The EU also intends to suspend direct support for various Israeli projects to the tune of around €20 million.
