Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun emphasised at a regular press conference today that economic and trade relations between China and the United States are based on mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. According to him, this is not a relationship in which one country unilaterally gains at the expense of the other.
According to him, the Chinese side considers economic cooperation to be a key „stabiliser“ and „driving force“ of Sino-American relations. Trade should help maintain stable relations between the two powers and move them forward even in times of tension.
Guo Jiakun also called on the United States to work with China to consistently implement important agreements reached by the leaders of both countries. Beijing expects the dialogue to be conducted on the basis of equality, mutual respect and reciprocity. The aim is to gradually resolve contentious issues, expand areas of cooperation and achieve concrete positive progress.
