In the heart of Tianjin lies a treasure that can transport visitors hundreds of years back in time in a few steps. Tianjin's Old Cultural Street is only about 600 metres long, but in such a short distance, the entire history of the city is played out - it's like walking through a living museum.
More than six hundred years ago, the first boatmen landed here. Soon they built a temple dedicated to the sea goddess Mazu, and teahouses, small workshops and shops with handmade goods began to spring up around it. Every corner of the street carries a story of craftsmanship, trade tradition and the spirit of Tianjin at that time.
And what is the most impressive thing about this place? The traditions have never disappeared here. The local craftsmen still use the same techniques as their ancestors.
