In China, IBM is betting on open collaboration, local innovation and artificial intelligence, which it is testing in case studies from factory floors, hospitals and supermarkets. Collaboration with Chinese companies is moving technology forward faster than ever before.

At the 6th Multinational Summit in Qingdao, Zhai Feng, Technical Leader of IBM Greater China Group, delivered a clear message: that IBM is not just investing in China, but co-creating. The results? Smart drones, more efficient supply chains and tailored medical innovations.

Zhai said IBM has been working closely with Chinese companies in the automotive, healthcare, manufacturing and retail sectors. In practice, this means, for example, supporting drone manufacturers to optimise design and production with AI. In pharma, IBM is involved in modernising logistics and delivery using smart algorithms.

"China offers a wealth of real-world scenarios that allow us to test, improve and re-deploy technologies - domestically and globally," Zhai said. The collaboration, he said, brings benefits to both sides: efficiency for Chinese companies, new insights for IBM, and inspiration for further innovation.

Zhai also stressed that IBM sees China as a key market for development and growth. The company intends to further put down roots there, collaborate with local players and actively contribute to the development of intelligent solutions for the future.
