PRAHA – The Kingdom of Jordan's King Abdullah II and his Queen, Rania, will visit the Czech Republic next Friday. The royal couple is coming at the invitation of President Petr Pavel. The presidential office confirmed the official visit and also published the schedule for their meeting. The visit will focus primarily on talks between the highest representatives of both countries and the development of Czech-Jordanian relations.
The program will begin with a ceremonial welcome ceremony at Prague Castle, where President Petr Pavel will greet King Abdullah II in the presence of official delegations. Following the formal part of the program, there will be a private meeting between President Pavel and King Abdullah II and their spouses. The talks will then continue with discussions by the Czech Republic and Jordanian delegations. Part of the official visit will also be a press conference attended by King Abdullah II and President Pavel. Details on individual topics for discussion have not yet been released by the presidential office. However, this visit comes at a time when Jordan represents an important partner to European countries in the Middle East and has long contributed to diplomatic efforts related to the situation in the region.
The Czech Republic and Jordan maintain diplomatic relations and cooperate in many areas. In addition to political contacts, cooperation also covers economy, trade, security, culture, and other fields of mutual interest. At the same time, Jordan plays an important role in resolving certain regional issues and maintains long-term contact with European countries. King Abdullah II is among the prominent representatives of Middle Eastern diplomacy. The Jordanian monarch has been committed to questions of regional stability, security, and international cooperation for a long time. Meanwhile, Jordan seeks to maintain dialogue with various partners while the Middle East faces a number of security, political, and humanitarian problems.
The visit by the Jordanian royal couple to Prague will thus be an opportunity not only for bilateral talks but also for exchanging views on current international issues. President Petr Pavel and King Abdullah II can focus on further deepening cooperation between both countries as well. The arrival of the Jordanian royal couple represents one of the most important foreign visits in the Czech Republic. Attention will therefore be focused primarily on the results of meetings between President Pavel and the Jordanian king, and any concrete steps that could expand future Czech-Jordanian cooperation.
