WINDHOEK - All of Southern Africa is voting, and in Namibia, there have been unfortunate incidents involving ballot papers, which are dominating the headlines this week. We are voting on November 27th.

Drought looms over the country like a vengeful angel, but the government is providing tax breaks and announced further millions in aid for drought relief on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a frenzied development continues, hindering the growth of renewable energy and green hydrogen, due to the oil and gas industry, which promises a lucrative future, while mining and banking continue to drive the economy.

Land scarcity and poverty are causing immense concern. Shantytowns have sprung up like mushrooms on the outskirts of cities throughout the country.

Namibia remains a wealthy country filled with poor people.
