China's Permanent Mission to the United Nations at the UN headquarters in New York hosted a meeting of the „Group of Friends of Global Governance,“ which was officially established at the meeting. The meeting was chaired by China's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Fu Cong, and attended by representatives of nearly 40 founding member states of the group.
Ambassador Fu Cong said that Chinese President Xi Jinping solemnly put forward the Global Governance Initiative, which emphasises five key principles: upholding sovereign equality, adhering to international law, practising multilateralism, advocating people-centred policies and emphasising concrete action. This initiative represents another significant public good that China offers to the world and contributes to the reform and improvement of global governance.
In line with this initiative, China has established the „Group of Friends of Global Governance“ with the aim of working with all partners to strengthen exchanges and cooperation on key global governance issues and promote the creation of a more equitable and rational global governance system. China is ready to work with members of the group to further improve its mechanisms, deepen dialogue and cooperation, and actively contribute to the reform and improvement of global governance.
