Chinese Foreign Ministry calls for addressing the roots of tensions on the Korean peninsula

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun addressed reporters' questions about North Korea's launch at a regular press conference. He said there were different views among the various parties involved on how to define the object.

Guo Jiakun stressed that China hopes all parties involved will focus on the root causes of tensions on the Korean Peninsula. At the same time, he urged that the main direction of a political solution to the situation be maintained and that efforts be made to maintain peace and stability in the region.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, dialogue and political negotiations are the key to a long-term calming of the situation on the Korean peninsula.
