Chinese President Xi Jinping sent New Year greetings to veterans of the Chinese army. Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), delivered the greetings while attending a gala held by the CMC for veterans of Beijing-based units on Friday, February 6.
The veterans greeted Xi with warm applause and spoke about their health and living conditions during the meeting. Together, they recalled the extraordinary journey of the Party, the country and the army over the past year.
The veterans pledged to rally more closely around the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its head and to implement Xi Jinping's idea of strengthening the military.
They further pledged to deeply grasp the crucial importance of the establishment of Xi Jinping's core group in the Party Central Committee and the Party as a whole, and to consolidate the leading role of Xi Jinping's idea of socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era. They also pledged to consciously support Xi as the core of the Central Committee and respect the authority and centralized, unified leadership of the Central Committee.
Veterans are also committed to fulfilling the CMC Chairman's system of ultimate accountability.
The veterans' goal is to contribute to the People's Liberation Army's centennial goals by 2027 and to promote high-level modernization of national defense and the armed forces.
