The Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom has condemned the recent "erroneous remarks" made by the G7 regarding Hong Kong. "The irresponsible remarks of a small group of countries, including the United Kingdom, regarding the enforcement of the law in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) constitute a blatant interference in China's internal affairs and the rule of law in the Hong Kong SAR. We strongly condemn such statements," a spokesperson said.
The spokesperson made the statement in response to comments made by the G7 on Friday regarding arrest warrants issued by Hong Kong police on July 25 against 19 pro-democracy fugitives.
"The interference of these countries in the rule of law in Hong Kong only further exposes their double standards and hypocrisy on issues of human rights and the rule of law," the spokesperson said, adding that it would only strengthen the determination of the Hong Kong SAR government to govern according to the law and punish crime.
