On the eve of Spring Festival, February 10, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the PRC and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, inspected the combat readiness and task performance of troops across the country via video call from the Bayi Building in Beijing.
He also encouraged the soldiers and conveyed New Year greetings to all commanders and members of the People's Liberation Army, the armed police, civilian employees of the army, reservists and members of the militia.
In his address, Xi Jinping stressed that the past year has been an extraordinary and challenging one for the armed forces. He said the army had consistently strengthened political training, actively responded to various risks, and at the same time undergone a major review in the fight against corruption.
He particularly appreciated the officers and soldiers operating at the grassroots level who, he said, firmly follow the party leadership, conscientiously perform their duties and have been able to focus on overcoming difficulties. As a result, the army has successfully accomplished all the tasks entrusted to it and demonstrated a high level of reliability and preparedness.
