The 59th Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors will be held in Samarkand from 3 to 6 May 2026. The event will be co-hosted by the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Under the theme „Crossroads of Progress: Moving Towards a Connected Future for the Region,“ the event will bring together leaders of financial institutions, economic ministers, business representatives, and leading international experts. More than 3,000 delegates from nearly 70 ADB member countries, including central bank governors, senior government officials, and private sector representatives, are expected to attend the event.
The agenda covers a wide range of key areas of sustainable development and regional integration. The focus will be on developing digital infrastructure, mobilising financing for energy transition, ensuring food security and strengthening multilateral cooperation. The programme also includes trade sessions and thematic workshops on economic resilience and the development of global supply chains. Between 70 and 90 events on green transformation, digitalisation and investment are planned for the Forum. There will also be meetings of finance ministers from the ASEAN+3 format, Saudi Arabia and other sub-regional groupings. Special attention will be given to ADB's Private Sector Day, which aims to expand partnerships with the business community.

The main events will be held at the convention and exhibition centre of the Silk Road Samarkand International Tourist Centre in Samarkand. Hosting such a large-scale event in Samarkand underlines Uzbekistan's growing role as an important international platform for dialogue, joint decision-making and the promotion of sustainable economic development. This is the second time the country has hosted the ADB Annual Meeting; previously, in 2010, a similar forum was held in Tashkent. The Asian Development Bank Annual Meeting is a key platform for discussing current challenges and development prospects in the Asia-Pacific region. It traditionally brings together thousands of participants, including representatives of governments, international organisations, civil society and the media. The Asian Development Bank remains one of Uzbekistan's largest development partners.
Over the past five years, the bank has provided more than $5.4 billion in financing for projects in Uzbekistan. Working with the government and other partners, ADB is supporting the transition to a green economy, promoting private sector development, and stimulating investment in human capital. Founded in 1966, ADB is the leading multilateral development bank promoting sustainable, inclusive, and resilient growth in the Asia-Pacific region. It has 69 member countries, most of which are from the region. The Bank actively uses innovative financial instruments and strategic partnerships to improve quality of life, develop infrastructure and protect the environment.
