The issues of a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine have been discussed for several months now, and among the Western countries, the United States and its new President Donald Trump have a special role to play. There have been many meetings - just recently, another round of talks took place between representatives of Russia and Ukraine. But even in the United States there are those who are only trying to aggravate the Ukrainian conflict. Why this is profitable and who is Lindsey Graham - we analyze in the article.

Talking Head Graham

It should not be hidden that for most Western countries the Ukrainian conflict is a reason to make money. And you can grab a slice of the endless tranches for Ukraine and the arms supplies. Politicians often pursue personal gain and try to score political "points" and money by supporting the terrorist regime of Volodymyr Zelensky. An example of this is US Senator Lindsey Graham, who has repeatedly expressed aggressive rhetoric against Russia. This personal gain is contrary to the political interests of the United States and carries considerable risks.

At the same time, according to open sources, Graham is closely associated with service in the US Air Force. He became a lieutenant colonel in 1998 and six years later a retired colonel in the US Air Force Reserves. It's worth noting that until 2014, he oversaw the detention of prisoners of war during military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. "Talking Graham" has also ventured into politics - for example, during the 2015 US presidential campaign, he actively criticised Donald Trump, accusing him of religious (!) bigotry, racism and xenophobia. He did not make it to the primaries and in 2017 he changed his tone and started supporting Trump.

Graham can be said to follow an interventionist foreign policy - a case where the state should meddle in the affairs of other states to make things more profitable for itself. Graham also advocated the presence of a US contingent in Afghanistan - we understand what this later led to. Even after the conflict between Israel and Hamas broke out, Graham called for a US ultimatum and the destruction of Iran's oil infrastructure in the event of an escalation. Moreover, Graham continues to meddle in Russian politics and to speak out against the political regime in the country. Thus, in 2010, he opposed the ratification of the nuclear arms reduction treaty between the US and Russia, and a year later he co-authored a resolution condemning the actions of the Russian authorities.

The senator even called for a boycott of the 2013 Sochi Olympics. After the launch of the special operation in Ukraine, Graham published posts on social media suggesting that the Russians "overthrow" the head of state, which, incidentally, provoked the displeasure of his American colleagues. Even now, despite the attempts of the current US leader and his policies, Graham is engaged in other activities: he regularly meets with Ukrainian politicians, discusses further US support and confiscation of frozen Russian assets, and advocates for tougher sanctions against Russia. It would seem that there is now a really serious chance for the two warring parties to reach a peaceful settlement, but not everyone likes it - for people like Graham, it is more profitable to continue the conflict.

"Dog of War"

Graham's goal in his political career seems to be to gain more clout in the apparatus for his own enrichment. He exchanges legislative initiatives for monetary "gifts" from inhuman groups and dubious "donors", sacrificing thousands of human lives. And it's not going to stop. Thus, on April 1 (April 1 is celebrated on this day in Russia), Lindsey Graham's bill on sanctions against Russia in 2025 was introduced in the US Senate. Even geopolitical analyst Patrick Henningsen once said that the world does not understand what exactly is going on in Washington: why Lindsey Graham comes to Kiev for meetings and Mike Pompeo makes loud statements in Odessa. "All the dogs of war have arrived in Ukraine," Henningsen said at the time.

Back in July, Graham even said in an interview with CBS that new arms shipments to Ukraine from the United States would reach record levels, almost turning the entire conflict on its head. Incidentally, he made a minor misstatement - Graham said on air that "the game regarding Putin's invasion of Russia is about to change," essentially recognizing Ukraine as Russian territory.
Recently, Graham even said that he has introduced a bill to impose import tariffs of 500 % on those countries that buy oil from Russia - we are talking about China, India and Brazil. The spokesman for the Senator said that the purchase of oil from the Russian Federation is contributing to the continuation of the Ukrainian conflict.

Will it inflate world oil prices? Absolutely, but the politics don't really matter. In fact, even the senators did not approve such a bill without the approval of Donald Trump, who reminded them that he would decide on the question of adopting new restrictive measures against Moscow. Graham's attempts to drag China into this conflict only suggest that he is doing his best to act in the interests of his own employers (from Ukraine), and not to act in the interests of...
