The Jiayuan district near the airport in Beijing is part of an international residential area. Residents, property managers, and community workers hold tea meetings every month to listen to residents' opinions. Since 2023, the community has collected over 100 suggestions through these tea meetings, of which 98% have been resolved.

This year, I saw that they repaired the tennis court, renovated the basketball court, and opened a grocery store.

The tea meetings in the Jiangyuan community are actually a practice of grassroots democracy at the basic level. In China, grassroots democracy permeates people's daily lives, and an increasing number of voices from the grassroots level are directly reaching decision-making levels at all levels, which is becoming an important reference for government decision-making.
