During the first three quarters of this year, Czech automotive companies produced a total of 1,097,257 passenger cars, which is 7.8% more than in the same period last year. The milestone of one million vehicles produced was again surpassed in September, but with a significantly larger increase than last year. Other segments also showed growth: commercial vehicles +16.9% (1121 units), motorcycles +45.1% (823 units), and large vehicles over 3.5 tons +15.3% (1550 units). Electric vehicles accounted for 9.7% of total production, with a total of 106,823 electric vehicles produced, of which 80,182 were fully electric and 26,641 were plug-in hybrids.

In the first nine months of this year, 1,097,257 passenger cars were produced in the Czech Republic, which is 7.8% more than in the same period of the previous year. A total of 106,762 electric vehicles were produced during this period, and their share of the Czech automotive production fell to 9.7%. Of these, 80,121 were fully electric and 26,641 were plug-in hybrids. A total of 74,977 vehicles were destined for the domestic market, representing 6.8% of the total number of vehicles produced. A total of 1,022,280 passenger cars were destined for foreign markets, representing over 93% of production. Vehicle exports increased by 8.8% year-on-year, while domestic sales decreased by 4.1%.

The largest domestic car manufacturer, Škoda Auto, produced 673,080 passenger cars in its Czech plants from January to September (+6.2%). 61,671 vehicles were delivered to the Czech market (-4.1%), and 611,409 vehicles were destined for foreign markets (+7.3%). Škoda Auto produced 64,600 electric vehicles (both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid), which is 9.6% of the company's total production. Of these, 54,612 were fully electric and 9,988 were plug-in hybrids.

The Hyundai plant in Nošovice also performed well in the same period as last year. It produced a total of 253,450 vehicles during the first three quarters, which is 0.3% less than in the same period last year. A total of 242,125 vehicles were exported (-0.4%) and 11,325 were allocated to the domestic market (+1.2%). Of the total number of vehicles produced, 25,509 had a fully electric powertrain and 16,653 had a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Electric vehicles accounted for 16.6% of the total production.

The Toyota plant in Kolín recorded higher production values year-on-year, with a total of 170,727 vehicles manufactured, which is 31.7% more vehicles than in the same period last year. This increase was partially offset by production disruptions caused by shortages of certain parts. A total of 168,746 vehicles were destined for export (+32.9%), while 1981 vehicles (-26.4%) were registered in the Czech Republic. Nearly half of the production consisted of the hybrid Yaris HV model.

Buses

In the first three quarters, 3219 buses were manufactured in the Czech Republic (-11.8%), with 643 buses intended for the domestic market (+125.6%), and the remaining 3518 buses destined for export (-3.4%). The Iveco CR plant produced 2929 buses. A total of 3445 buses were exported (-0.3%), and 426 units (+86.8%) were sold in the Czech Republic. SOR Libchavy produced 264 buses in the first nine months of this year, which is 15.3% more than last year. Of these, 217 units (+280.7%) were intended for the domestic market, and 47 buses (-72.7%) of this brand were exported. The manufacturer KHMC produced 24 buses during the period, all of which were intended for export.

Trucks

Tatra Trucks, the only manufacturer of trucks among the members of the Association of the Automotive Industry, produced 1121 vehicles in the first three quarters of this year, which is 162 units more than in the same period last year (i.e., +16.9%). More than 57% of Tatra's production was destined for foreign markets, with 461 vehicles (43%) sold in the Czech market.

Motorcycles

The Jawa manufacturer produced 823 motorcycles in the first nine months of the year, which is 256 units more than last year (+45.1%). Of the total production, 359 motorcycles of this brand were placed on the Czech market (+48.3%), and 464 motorcycles were exported (+42.8%).

Trailers

The trailer segment recorded an overall year-on-year decline. Between January and September, 13,935 trailers and semi-trailers of all sizes were manufactured, which is 1027 units less than last year (-6.9%). In terms of volume, the majority of production was carried out by Agados, which specializes in small trailers up to 3.5 tons. They produced 12,385 units (-9.1%), of which 6725 were sold in the Czech Republic (-10.5%), and 5200 were exported (-8.5%).

In the category of large trailers and semi-trailers, production increased year-on-year by 15.3% to a total of 1550 units. Schwarzmüller produced 1160 large trailers, which is 20.7% more than last year. In the Czech Republic, they sold 161 units (-72.4%), and 1008 units (+9.8%) were exported. The Czech company Panav also performed well, producing 387 trailers and semi-trailers, which is 2.1% more than in the previous year. They placed 278 units on the domestic market (i.e., -14.5%), and 52 units (+44.4%) were exported.
