In today's modern age, people are mainly focused on the future. They are constantly thinking about what new things they should buy for their lives. They are constantly worrying about what's next, what they have to do next. They think about what is coming tomorrow, what they have to do next week, what to do next month, when to pay the next instalment, etc. In companies, they look at future results, at meeting the next quarter's plan, at next year's profit, at new customers, etc., etc. Constantly thinking about the future is very exhausting. This is also one of the causes of stress. Constantly looking into the future does not allow a person to stop for a moment, rest and take an important break. This leads to people not being able to relax and thus exhausting their whole organism.

The strong clinging to the future so occupies the mind of man that he has little awareness of the present. The art of living in the so-called HERE AND NOW is thus mastered only by a very small group of people. And after all, all one has is "the here and now". There is nothing else. The past has already been and the future has not yet come. So all of life is happening in this very moment. But because most people focus their attention on the future in this moment, they rob themselves of their own life.

It is important for man to realize that everything in nature, and therefore man himself, works in a sequence. Nothing arises randomly, suddenly, without cause. Already in primary school we were taught about the law of "action and reaction". Everything that happens now is a reaction to something that came before. And that reaction in turn becomes the cause of what happens next. Therefore, the present moment always lies between the past moment and the future moment.

If you look at the law of action and reaction, or if you prefer the law of cause and effect from the perspective of Feng Shui and Chinese cosmology, then you will realize that everything in nature has its connections. Every thing builds on the previous thing and every future situation builds on the present situation. So it is about the connections between the past, the present and the future. Feng Shui calls this phenomenon the "Human Axis". This axis shows a person's progression in life. Thus, everyone comes from the past to the present, and from the present comes to the future. This means that your present is based on your past and your future is based on your present.

The ability to follow up, i.e. to be able to build on what has happened in the past, brings a very strong energy to a person. If you imagine that everything that exists today is the result of the past, then you realize that all the present wealth comes from the past. I mean, the past created all the wealth. The past gives you all this wealth and offers you to use it. The art of building on the wealth of the past is thousands of years old. Great empires, great rulers, and wealthy business owners have built their power and glory on this art. Constantly building on the past is called tradition. The power of tradition is undeniable. The longer the traditions are, the stronger the basis for further development they provide. The power of tradition is the energy of time.

Today's world mostly rejects and rejects traditions. It considers them as something outdated, old, no longer applicable in the present time. This is due to the great focus on the future. But people do not realize that they are voluntarily depriving themselves of the power and richness of all that has been achieved in the past. So they start their activities from scratch, from nothing. They start everything in the present, without any reference to the past. On the contrary, they try to distance themselves from it as much as possible. This can be seen in the present crisis of the family. Young people are trying to become independent in life and, moreover, to differentiate themselves as much as possible from the life of their parents (not to be confused with the "mama-hotel institution", which is due to laziness and not to the desire to follow their parents). If you are a parent and have older children, you probably know from experience how much they "love" it when you try to give them advice.

People develop similarly in their professional lives. They feel that they have to figure everything out on their own. Here, unfortunately, they are very much influenced by contemporary education and the global trend towards individualism. Everything is under the motto: 'you have to do it yourself', 'you can do it', 'you have to assert yourself', 'be original', etc. People then look for a new and original way in everything. But that means they have to invent everything from scratch. This inventing is very exhausting and also has adverse health effects. Moreover, it causes stress - both time stress (I won't be able to think of it in time, someone else will think of it before me, etc.) and failure stress (I won't be able to do it).

As we said at the beginning, nothing comes into being by itself. Everything evolves through the law of action and reaction. Thus, everything new must come from the past. Therefore, man should learn to relate his actions and activities to what has been created in the past. This has two great advantages:

  1. I will harness the power of the energy of the past
  2. I don't exhaust myself inventing new

If I build my current activity on past activity, then I just "add something" and something new is automatically created. I.e., you don't have to invent everything from scratch, but just build on the past and you have a new "it". The power of the past and tradition is used by powerful and wealthy companies. You will know, for example, the advertisement of Plzeňský Prazdroj, which constantly highlights the fact that it has been brewing this beer since the 19th century. Similarly, Becherovka is building on its success. In the world, it is, for example, Coca-Cola, producers of expensive wines or spirits, foodstuffs, etc. This tactic has been used very well by Apple, which has built each new product on the previous one and "just improved" it a little (e.g. iPhones are already in their 6th series). The big car companies are similarly successful.

So if you want to create something new, always use the power of the past. Look at who has done something similar before you. In the age of the internet, you have unlimited access to information. You can get it from all over the world. If you want to start a new business, don't figure out what to do and how to do it yourself. Look at how similar businesses have been created and how they work elsewhere in the world. See how they create their success. Everything you can take advantage of, take advantage of. Then add what you use to your knowledge and you have a new company in the world. Same with a new product or a new service. Plus, you can then take pride in establishing that tradition and use it to support the quality of your business. If you want to produce a new wine, for example, then you can state that it comes from an area where wine has been grown for hundreds of years and where those famous wine brands come from. Just by making this connection alone, you will create a strong trust with your customers. Because they will know right away how to set their expectations. Immediately your product is clearly profiled in their minds. If you just said, "we have a new wine", everyone would probably be quite sceptical about what kind of wine it is. No one would be able to get a good idea.

If you are planning a trip of your own, it is also very good to find a tradition to build on. That tradition will immediately give you a clear idea of what your journey should look like. You can then just adapt it to your own needs. If you want to become a good teacher, trainer or coach, for example, you can build on the strong tradition of Jan Amos Comenius. If you want to become, for example, a great composer, you can build on the tradition of Antonín Dvořák. Determine what you want to build on. You will see for yourself that you will immediately be clearer about what to do and how to do it.

The power of tradition is enormous. Fast and modern times do not use them. If you want to succeed and not exhaust your energy in the process, use it. Both in your private life and in your profession. You'll see how much more energy you'll gain. How everything will suddenly become simpler, clearer. Your tradition-based activities will be very strong and more successful than if you build them on a green field.
