The Second World Conference on Classical Civilizations will be held on June 9th and 10th in Athens, Greece. This was announced by the organizers during a press conference held in Beijing on Monday.
The conference will bring together leading experts in classical studies, as well as experts in civilizations, culture, and archaeology from China and other countries around the world. The main goal is to discuss issues related to classical civilizations, promote academic exchange, and seek common ground in the field of global research on classical cultures.
The event is being jointly organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Chinese Ministry of Education, the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Greek Ministry of Culture, and the Athens Academy.
The program will include an opening ceremony, plenary sessions, and a closing ceremony. Participants will also take part in four parallel expert forums focusing on topics such as virtue and education, ethical communities in a changing society, approaches to global governance based on civilizational values, and the importance of humanistic values in the digital age.
The first World Conference on Classical Civilizations was held in Beijing in 2024. The event then attracted more than 600 participants from China, Greece, and other countries. Among them were representatives of state institutions, experts, scientists, cultural figures, young people, and media representatives from all over the world.
