PRAGUE – Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) spoke today by telephone with former US President Donald Trump. The Prime Minister published the information on social network X, where he stated that the conversation was extensive and touched on a number of key international issues. According to him, the two leaders focused primarily on issues of war, migration, the future of Europe and cooperation within the Visegrad Group.
Babiš described the conversation as open and factual. „We spoke at length about the current security situation in the world, about the war and its consequences for Europe, but also about migration and how it fundamentally affects the stability of individual states,“ the Prime Minister wrote. He also pointed out that the United States and the Czech Republic face similar challenges in the areas of border protection and energy security.
According to Babiš, a significant part of the conversation was also devoted to discussing the role of Europe and the future of the Visegrad Four, i.e. cooperation between the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. The Prime Minister said that he and Trump agreed that Central Europe must assert its interests more strongly within the European Union and speak with one voice.
In the interview, both politicians also returned to their personal meeting at the White House in March 2019, which was also attended by their wives Monika and Melania. Babiš described this visit as an important moment in Czechia-US relations and recalled that it was a historically significant event that strengthened mutual ties between the two countries.
While Donald Trump remains a prominent political figure in the United States, Andrej Babiš continues to profile himself as one of the most prominent voices on the Czech political scene. According to the Prime Minister, their telephone conversation today confirms that the dialogue between the Czech Republic and the United States remains lively and important, even in times of complex global challenges.
