WASHINGTON, August 1. U.S. President Donald Trump said he has ordered the redeployment of two U.S. nuclear submarines "to the appropriate regions," reportedly because of statements made by Dmitry Medvedev, vice chairman of the Russian Security Council and chairman of the United Russia movement.

"Based on the highly provocative statements made by former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who is now Vice Chairman of the Security Council of Russian Federation, I have ordered the deployment of two nuclear submarines in the relevant regions, in case these stupid and outrageous statements are more than that", Trump wrote on the social network Truth. He did not specify what statements were in question. "Words are very important and can often lead to unintended consequences, I hope this is not one of those cases," Trump added.

The Pentagon has not yet responded to a request for clarification on where the submarines were sent.

On July 28, Medvedev wrote on the social network X that Trump, who threatens Russia and claims to shorten the timeframe for settling the Ukrainian conflict, should not forget that any ultimatum becomes a step towards war. On July 31, he urged Trump not to forget the dangers of "the dead." This is how he commented on the US leader's words about the Russian economy, as well as criticism of himself, in his telegram channel. "About the "dead economy" of India and Russia and "entering dangerous territory" - let him remember his favorite movies about the "walking dead" and also how dangerous a "dead hand" can be, which does not exist in nature," Medvedev wrote, adding an emoji with a laugh.

"Dead Hand" in the West during the Cold War was the name for the Soviet "Perimeter" system, which provided a guaranteed retaliatory massive nuclear strike in the event of aggression against the USSR. Earlier, Trump spoke negatively about the economies of Russia and India on his Truth Social account, calling them "dead" and also criticizing Medvedev.
