PRAGUE - A significant honour for a legend of Czech tennis. Three-time Grand Slam winner Jan Kodeš received the prestigious Karel Koželuh Award today during the Livesport Prague Open tennis tournament in Stromovka. This award is given annually to exceptional personalities who have made a significant contribution to the development of Czech tennis.

The award was presented by Petr Pála, vice-president of the Czech Tennis Federation, together with former top player and member of the famous tennis family Mirka Bendlova-Koželuhová. The event took place in a pleasant atmosphere in front of the spectators and the young hopes of Czech tennis, who have the opportunity to meet the living icons of the sport.

Jan Kodeš, winner of Roland Garros (1970, 1971) and Wimbledon (1973), thanked for the recognition and stressed the importance of tradition and support for young players. "It is important not to forget the past, but to pass on the experience," said Kodeš. The Karel Koželuh Award bears the name of the legendary Czechoslovak athlete, who became famous not only in tennis but also in other sports, and recalls the strength of the Czech sport's legacy on the international stage.
