PRAGUE - Consumer prices in the Czech Republic rose by 2.7 percent year-on-year in March, the same as in February. On a month-on-month basis, prices rose by 0.1 percent. The data were published today by the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), which confirmed its preliminary estimate from last week. According to the statisticians, food in particular became more expensive, while fuel became cheaper.
"In March, prices rose by 2.7 percent compared to last year, the same as in February. The rise in food prices was almost entirely offset by a drop in fuel prices. Natural 95 petrol was sold at petrol stations for an average of CZK 35.25 per litre, which was the lowest price since September 2021. Diesel was sold for CZK 34.83 per litre, which was the lowest since November last year," said Pavla Šedivá, head of the consumer price statistics department at the Czech Statistical Office.
