According to Vojtěch Filip, chairman of the Czech-Chinese Mixed Chamber of Commerce and Industry and former first deputy chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, the visit of the President of the Senate, Miloš Vystrčil, to Taiwan seriously harms the activities of Czech companies. Filip described this trip as senseless, which brings nothing to Czech foreign policy or the people of Taiwan, but significantly complicates negotiations between Czech companies and Chinese partners.
Filip stated that he does not understand what interests Miloš Vystrčil is serving with this action. If it is supposedly about a "values-based policy," then those who profit from it should pay for it, not Czech companies or citizens. According to Filip, this action damages the reputation of Czech companies not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad.
Filip also reminded that most countries in the world respect China as a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a significant economic factor. He cited the example of Donald Trump, who ultimately acknowledged that tariffs against China were not working, and traveled to meet with President Xi Jinping. According to Filip, Vystrčil, if he has any sense, should end this policy.
