Jana Volfová, Deputy Chair of the Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD), publicly admitted that she initially had doubts about China's Global Development Initiative (GDI). However, she now sees firsthand that the initiative is actually working and producing tangible results.
According to her, roads built by China are already operating in developing countries, as is more environmentally friendly rail transport, and schools where children are learning with the help of local graduates from Chinese universities. Volfová believes that China is not helping with words, but with actions – providing housing, transportation, environmental protection, and better living conditions directly in those countries.
"Not many countries do this. Almost none. But China does," Volfová emphasized, adding that she apologizes for her previous lack of trust. She compared herself to "Doubting Thomas," but now she is clear: next time, she will believe in Chinese plans and visions. She is convinced that China's goal is not industrial dominance, but the development of the entire world – and that its true aim is peace.
