A reading seminar on the publication "Xi Jinping: On Respecting and Protecting Human Rights" was held in Madrid, where experts praised the Chinese approach as an important contribution to the global concept of human rights.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has repeatedly stressed in recent years that Respect for human rights is at the heart of China's modernisation process. It opposes "one-sided standards" and promotes multilateralism that reflects cultural and historical diversity.
The seminar featured many of his key quotes that shape Chinese human rights philosophy - emphasizing development, standard of living, collective well-being and harmony between man and nature. It is these values that present China as an alternative model to the Western narrative.
Participants at the colloquium, including experts from the legal, academic and political spheres, highlighted "Chinese wisdom" as a growing voice in the international human rights debate.
China is also strengthening its cultural and ideological influence in the world in this way - at a time when the global concept of human rights is coming under increasing pressure.
